Amalfi & Capri

CREATING A NEW INTERSECTION OF RESORT & RESIDENCE

“This home is located on the corner of Amalfi and Capri,” says Gordon. “I was immediately captivated by that and came to understand that a new kind of home was waiting to emerge at this magical crossroads: After years of construction, today the result is a large-scale, self-sufficient estate that is absolutely intimate from every room.”

A Growers Loft

We decided to topless for this two-story pantry. What this means: Story your dry goods on the bottom floor, then take a spiral staircase to the top where you can grow your veggies and herbs, grill your dinner and drink up the sun.

Back Story

I wanted the wall finish to be thick and compliment the scale of the home — something masculine, strong and linear that would draw the eye either up or across. I wanted something to visually attach the outdoor and indoor spaces. Scott Nelson from NaturalWalls miraculously crafted a tool to ‘rake’ the surface and then played with the damp cementitious material to get the organic feeling we see today.

Her new-construction, 8,600-square-foot compound has just sold for a record-breaking $18m above its original asking price of $14.8m. It’s the highest price ever sold on the Upper Riviera’s Amalfi Drive, the coveted street that has also been home to Reese Witherspoon, Chuck Lorre, Steven Spielberg and many others. It is also the highest price per foot ever paid for a new development in the Upper Riviera.
